Tom and Jerry: The Movie, released in 1992, received almost unanimously negative reviews. Thus, it became a prime target for the movie-reviewing Internet celebrity, The Nostalgia Critic. And during this review, there was one joke that stood out among fans. The joke involved one of the main villains, Lickboot, expressing his desire to have money, and the Critic responding to him.

Lickboot: "We've got to have… money!"
Nostalgia Critic: "Oh, sounds like the producers of this movie."

(The joke is said at 1:40.)

Though it was only said in passing and was never mentioned by the Critic again, it became an instant hit with fans. Immediately, remixes and mash-ups started popping up all over YouTube, the most common kind being putting the animation to a song involving money.
