Origin

On May 26th, 2014, rapper T.I. posted a video on Instagram responding to rumors that he received two black eyes during a fight with professional boxer Floyd Mayweather two days prior, saying "where they at though?" while looking into the camera (shown below). In the next six months, the video gained over 176,000 likes and 29,000 comments.

On August 8th, 2014, Viner Reggie COUZ uploaded a remix of the T.I. clip titled "Where they at tho?", which gained over 7.7 million plays and 173,000 likes in the next two months (shown below).

On August 17th, 2014, YouTuber Rhakim Ali uploaded an extended version of the remix, gathering upwards of 1.42 million views and 4,700 comments in the next six weeks (shown below).

On September 13th, SoundCloud user Dubskie uploaded a remix of the track featuring rapper Will Brum (shown below). In the first month, the remix accumulated more than 477,600 plays and 8,400 likes.

On October 24th, news anchor Dan Thorn uploaded a video of himself dancing to an extended version of the T.I. remix in the 59 News studio (shown below). In two weeks, the video gathered upwards of 1.1 million views and 230 comments. On November 3rd, Redditor ScottenBurgh submitted the video to the /r/UnexpectedThugLife[1] subreddit, where it gained over 3,100 votes (92% upvoted) in the first 48 hours.
