Why Do I Fix Everything I Touch is a reaction image of Fix-It Felix from the 2012 Disney animated movie Wreck-It Ralph. The image, which originally circulated as a GIF in 2013, features Felix with a hammer in hand saying "Why Do I Fix Everything I Touch?" The reaction image became popular on Reddit with added captions in June 2020.
Origin
On November 2nd, 2012, the Disney movie Wreck-It Ralph was released and featured a scene in which Fix-it Felix is locked in a room with bars, and in an attempt to escape he accidentally makes the bars thicker and asks, "Why Do I Fix Everything I Touch?" On March 9th, 2013, The clip was first uploaded to YouTube by Tornadosplash44 and gained over 10,000 views in seven years (shown below). A gif of the scene was uploaded to the Wordpress[1] blog Disneysplosion on May 9th.
On June 13th, 2020, Redditor RegularNoodles uploaded a screenshot of the scene and added the caption "kid: literally snaps his leg in half/ The school nurse after putting ice on it:" to r/memes[2] and received over 60,9000 points (97% upvoted) in three days (shown below).
Spread
On June 14th, 2020, Redditor BengalsBoss99 posted another captioned example of the image to r/memes[3] and garnered over 24,600 points (98% upvoted) in two days. That same day, Redditor AntifaAI posted an example captioned, "China giving women rights after starving 30 million of heir own people" to r/historymemes[4] (shown below, right). The meme accumulated over 5,300 points (96% upvoted) in two days.
The next day, Redditor anotherformerlurker posted a captioned gif variation to r/dankmeme[5] and gained over 11,400 points (94% upvoted) in a day (shown below).
