Women ☕, also known as Women Coffee or Hmph, Women, refers to a comment copypasta that represents comedic contempt for women when they do something silly or cringy. The "Women ☕" origin is a Team Fortress 2 sketch video that was posted to YouTube in late 2017. "Women ☕" comments were left under multiple TikTok videos in early 2022.

Origin

On October 9th, 2017, YouTuber^[1] Tipsy Duck posted a video titled, "Infomercial: The Pill," wherein, the Medic and the Soldier from Team Fortress 2 are scoffing, laughing and sipping coffee at the 00:13-minute mark. Over the course of five years, the video received roughly 490,700 views (shown below).

On May 15th, 2021, YouTuber^[2] alsoandanswer posted a video titled, "[TF2] Hmph. Women, Hahahahaha! ☕ (HD)" wherein, they only posted the men laughing. Over the course of one year, the video received roughly 739,600 views (shown below).

Going into the remainder of 2021, multiple YouTubers^[3][4] reposted the initial nine seconds of the video, wherein the two characters say, "Hmph, women," laugh and then throw their heads back.

During this time period, YouTubers started to add the nine-second clip after a video of a woman being cringy to doing something else worthy of a laugh. For instance, on September 26th, 2021, the YouTube^[5] channel Curry Upload posted a video that earned roughly 13,300 views in eight months (shown below, left). On September 29th, 2021, YouTube^[6] channel Curry Upload posted another video, earning roughly 98,200 views in eight months (shown below, right).

In late 2021, the "Hmpf, Women" video started being used on TikTok. For instance, on November 22nd, 2021, TikToker^[7] d_4cky posted a video that added the "Hmpf, Women" clip at the end of it, earning roughly 13,200 plays and 1,400 likes in six months (since-deleted).

Going into 2022, the video was used en masse on TikTok. This was started by TikToker^[8] digornogivanni on February 28th, 2022, whose video earned roughly 9.1 million plays and 1.7 million likes in three months (shown below). In the TikTok's description they wrote, "hmm women☕☕☕hahahah," and directly inspired the "Women ☕" comment trend in early 2022.

Inspired by a comment left on the aforementioned video, TikToker^[9] digornogivanni reposted the "Hmpf, Women" clip on March 4th, 2022, so it could be used as a sound by other creators. Over the course of two months, the video received roughly 175,900 plays and 22,600 likes (shown below, left). TikTokers then started posting videos without the TF2 clip but writing "Women ☕" in their descriptions. For instance, on April 4th, 2022, TikToker^[10] hate.zoophiles4ever posted a video that earned roughly 54,200 plays and 5,200 likes in one month (shown below).
