You Can't Be Talking Like That White Baby refers to a catchphrase first posted online by X user @len0killer in June 2021. The catchphrase was coined as a response to misused or overused AAVE and has since come to be used as a retort or copypasta online.

Origin

On June 23rd, 2021, X^[1] user @len0killer made a post that read, "Grown up sized white baby I’m friends with: The way I be drinking this damn apple juice…ooh chile😂 / Me: You can’t be talking like that White Baby." The post gathered over 27,000 likes in three years (seen below).

The earliest known subsequent use of the catchphrase was a July 5th, 2023 post by X^[2] user @Trekfan32 that gathered over 3,000 likes in seven months (seen below).

Spread

The catchphrase didn't spread on X (formerly Twitter) until mid-2023, with X users @fentpressed^[3] and @el_fodongo^[4] using the line in posts made on July 23rd and August 8th, gathering over 3,000 and 6,000 likes respectively (seen below).

On September 7th, 2023, X^[5] user @headfallsoff used the catchphrase in a post that gathered over 13,000 likes in four months, and X^[6] user @ettingermentum used the phrase in response to a different meme (seen below, right)
