You Must Be The Belmont, also known as Trevor Punching Dracula, is an exploitable scene from season two of the 2018 Netflix animated series Castlevania, in which the protagonist Trevor Belmont attempts to punch Dracula who is unphased by his blows. In memes, creators replace the punches Belmont throws with various sound effects and occasionally change the scene's dialogue to be more humorous.

Origin

The scene came from the seventh episode of the second season of the Netflix Castlevania animated series, which is titled "For Love," that premiered on October 26th, 2018.^[1] In the scene, Trevor Belmont, Alucard and Sypha Belnades face off against Dracula Vlad Tepes in a hallway of his castle. Sypha is knocked away while trying to use her magic against him, and Belmont runs to her aid. He quickly punches at Dracula with a series of blows, but none seem to do any real damage. Dracula responds to Belmont's vain attempt by saying, "You must be the Belmont," before landing a staggering punch into his gut (scene shown below).^[2]

A shortened clip of the scene was posted to YouTube by InquisitorDAKKA on June 8th, 2021, which has received over 340,000 views in seven months.^[3]

On January 17th, 2019, the YouTube^[4] channel videos I found on kik posted an edit of the scene that replaces the sounds of Belmont's punches with those of a squeaky toy, adding the Roblox death sound' to where Dracula punches Belmont in the gut. The video, titled "You must be a Belmont…," received over 52,000 views in over two years.^[4]

On August 8th, 2019, @castlegaynias posted an edit of the scene to Twitter that replaced Belmont's punches with the bonk sound effect. The video (shown below), received over 20,000 likes and over 230,000 views in over two years.^[5]

On August 4th, 2021, Overly Sarcastic Productions (@OSPYouTube) posted an edit of the scene that replaces the punching sounds with the music from Nintendo's Mii Channel. The video (shown below) received over 10,000 likes and over 114,000 views in roughly five months.^[6]

On August 5th, 2021, KaiserNeko posted a compilation of edits of the scene to his YouTube account, which were originally posted separately to his Twitter in response to OSPYoutube's post.^[7] The video, titled "Castlevania Meme Compilation #1(?)," (shown below) received over 36,000 views in roughly five months.^[8]

On August 7th, 2021, @EmeraldDemond posted an edit to Twitter of the scene with Belmont sneaking towards Dracula and punching him to the tune of Undercover Martyn by Two Door Cinema Club. The video (shown below) received over 16,000 likes and over 145,000 views.^[9]
