Castlevania: Nocturne is an American animated cartoon series created and written by Clive Bradley and led by producer Kevin Kolde for Netflix. A spin-off of the 2017 Castlevania animated series, the show is based on the video game series of the same name by Konami. The story of Nocturne is set in 1792 during the French Revolution, centering on Richter Belmont, a descendant of the Belmont vampire-hunting clan. Castlevania: Nocturne is expected to premiere on Netflix in late September 2023.

History

Castlevania: Nocturne was first mentioned on April 16th, 2021, in a Deadline[2] article about Netlfix's plan to create a spin-off series set in the Castlevania universe (following the conclusion of its original animated series in mid-2021) with a new cast of characters. Powerhouse Animation will return as the main animation studio and the show is expected to premiere on September 28th, 2023.

On July 27th, 2023, the voice cast and first trailer of the series was revealed. Netflix's official YouTube[3] channel uploaded the trailer (shown below), garnering over 2 million views and 127,000 likes in four days.

Plot

Castlevania: Nocturne centers around Richter Belmont, a descendent of the 2017 Castlevania protagonist Trevor Belmont, during the French Revolution in which he must form a team to prevent yet another vampiric, world-ending event.[1]
