On March 20th, 2009, YouTuber^[1] Japancommercials4U2 uploaded a commercial for The Super Mario Bros. Super Show! that originally aired on the KidsLand channel. In the commercial, Mario tells viewers that if they're not watching the show they're gonna "turn into a goomba," garnering over 254,000 views in 13 years (shown below).

On May 22nd, 2020, YouTuber^[2] MarioMeta posted a video that represents each word with a Google Image, garnering over 300,000 views in two years (shown below). On August 15th, Instagram^[3] user off_his_mind posted two videos using the audio, garnering over 2,800 likes in two years.

On August 23rd, YouTuber^[4] conkface posted a meme using the clip where a man turns into a goomba, garnering over 1.8 million views in two years (shown below, left). On September 7th, YouTuber^[5] Kiwi posted a meme where "Squidward": turns into a goomba, garnering over 400,000 views in two years (shown below, right). On October 17th, a Redditor posted a meme referencing the video to /r/casualnintendo,^[6] garnering over 200 upvotes in two years.

On March 22nd, 2021, YouTuber^[7] Gavilloo posted an original animation using the video's audio, garnering over 13,000 views in a year (shown below). On July 29th, 2022, YouTuber^[8] i like ducks posted a version of the meme using the LEGO Mario toys, garnering over 50,000 views in two months.
