"You're Joking" Barbie TikTok Sound Effect is a catchphrase and sound effect popularized on the app TikTok in early 2023. The sound stems from an episode of the Netflix animated Barbie show Barbie: Life In The Dreamhouse in which the titular character Raquelle (Barbie's frenemy) can be seen saying, "You're joking." the phrase was then remixed to have Raquelle say her line once again but slower on TikTok, after which it became a prominent original sound on the platform.
Origin
In season one, episode 12 of the Netflix animated show Barbie: Life In The Dreamhouse, a character named Raquelle can be seen reacting to a show on her TV by saying, "You're joking." A video of the scene can be accessed via a March 10th, 2023, upload by TikToker[1] @icespiceisqueennn.x, which gathered over 60,000 plays and 3,000 likes in a month (seen below, left). The earliest known upload using the recording of Raquelle saying "You're joking" was posted on March 1st by TikToker[2] @n0ggernutter, gathering over 2 million views and 700,000 likes in a month (seen below, right).
