Bibble Singing, also known as the Bibble Meme or Bibble Screaming, is an exploitable image macro meme series in which people express their enthusiasm for songs from their childhood by using an image of the character Bibble from the 2006 animated film Barbie: Mermadia.

The meme, which follows the phrasal template of song lyrics by an artist being concluded by the phrase, "X year old me," is similar to the Mike Wazowski Singing meme in that it uses an image of a cartoon character singing to stand in for the meme's author. Many mistake Bibble in the meme as a baby version of Sulley from Monsters Inc.

As the meme spread online, it also became used as a simple reaction image, with some adding flames to the background, known as the Bibble Fire meme. Other edits of the scene, such as animated music videos and lyric videos, appeared on platforms like TikTok in the 2020s.

Origin

On March 14th, 2006, the direct-to-DVD animated film Barbie: Mermadia was released. In the film, the character Barbie meets Bibble, who sings in a variety of styles.^[1]

The clip in which the screenshot of Bibble singing appears was uploaded to YouTube by the channel Something Nostalgic on May 7th, 2006, garnering over 1.8 million views, 36,000 likes and 1,160 comments in 20 years.

On June 1st, 2018, Twitter ^[5] user @KlarksonCelly posted a screen capture of Bibble with its arms outstretched, singing loudly from the film and the caption, "bitches singing royals by lorde in 7th grade." The post (shown below) received more than 2,100 retweets and 10,000 likes in less than three months.

Spread

The Bibble Singing meme continued to spread on Twitter and other social media sites over the following months.

On August 7th, 2018, Twitter^[2] user @BhadDhad tweeted the image and the caption, "lady gaga: jesus is my virtue… and judas is the demon i cling to… 11 year old me: …I CLING TOO." Bibble, in this case, serves as a stand-in for the author. The post (shown below) received more than 15,000 retweets and 40,000 likes in nine days.

Over the next week, people online began posting variations of the format as the meme spread in late 2018.

For example, on August 11th, 2018, Twitter^[3] user @luciacfreeman tweeted, "Leona Lewis: you cut me open and I.. 10 year old me: I KEEP BLEEDING I KEEP KEEP BLEEDING LOVE." The post (shown below) received more than 64,000 retweets and 139,000 likes in five days.

The popularity of the tweet inspired more people to join in, leading to numerous variations, using a variety of artists and characters (examples below).

On August 14th, 2018, Alternative Press^[4] published a listicle of some examples of the meme as it continued growing in virality.

In the 2020s, the scene of Bibble singing also became the source of memes on TikTok as the format morphed into different uses.

For example, on September 22nd, 2021, TikToker^[6] memessssyouknow uploaded an edit of the original scene from the movie with edited audio, garnering over 26,200 likes and 430 comments in five years.

On January 30th, 2023, TikTok^[7] user bibble_l0ver posted a version of the Bibble Fire meme with the song "Romantic Lover" by Eyedress and the lyrics edited in the video, receiving over 148,100 likes and 2,100 comments in three years.

In 2026, the Bibble Singing meme began seeing widespread use on TikTok as a sticker and reaction image in comment sections of the app.

For example, on January 30th, 2026, TikToker^[8] _.__c_._ posted a video of themselves scrolling through the comments on another post, which were filled with Bibble meme stickers. The post garnered over 11,200 likes and 15,000 comments in six months, with many of the comments also posting the Bibble Singing sticker.

On June 15th, 2026, TikTok^[9] user nolanlovesart posted a video of themselves making a clay ornament of the Bibble meme amid its resurgence in virality on the app that year, receiving nearly 10,000 likes and 580 comments in a month.
