We regret to inform you, etc., etc.
The "Baby Gronk" phenomenon, spearheaded by a viral word salad of a TikTok, has quickly gone from "amusing brain virus" to "concerning situation" as attention has turned to Baby Gronk's father, Jake San Miguel, who some are now accusing of exploiting his son for "clout."
The controversy started over the weekend when NFL linebacker Will Compton posted a now viral video addressed to Jake San Miguel, accusing him of exploiting his son so he could live out his own dreams of fame and fortune.
San Miguel responded by defending his actions, saying Compton doesn't understand how they live and that Baby Gronk (real name Madden San Miguel) has a relatively regular childhood despite his viral fame.

It didn't end there, as days later, the San Miguels appeared on an episode of the Bring the Juice podcast. In one segment, Jake asks the hosts to ask the question again so that Madden could give a more "scripted" answer.
The hosts ask Baby Gronk, "Are you Him?" Jake steps in and says, "Ask that again, bro," and then tells Madden, "‘Man, what kinda question is that? You see my Instagram?'”

Compton again had some harsh words for Jake San Miguel. Compton wrote, "Baby Gronk’s dad is such a loser. You know that the parents who know this family and have see this bull---- genuinely hate it for him because he seems like a nice kid."
He was far from the only one to express a negative opinion of the clip as well. As it spread online, many viewers expressed how it felt exploitative and cringeworthy.

While time will tell if "Baby Gronk" remains a cultural phenomenon or if it's a "five minutes of fame" situation, it seems many believe that his dad isn't doing the kid any favors.
