As part of a mass-unbanning of Twitter users that had their accounts permanently suspended in the pre-Musk era, two of the site's most infamous posters, Brian and Ed Krassenstein, have now returned.

For those who don't remember the Krassenstein era on Twitter, the two were arguably the figureheads of "resistance" cringe. They made their names by replying to every Donald Trump tweet with impotent "gotchas" that ended with an all-caps "BOOM!" They also wrote a children's book about the first impeachment of Trump that depicted Robert Mueller as a shirtless, muscular hunk. Lastly, they were accused of being grifters and hucksters looking to turn liberal outrage into a money-making scheme (a charge they have denied).

Ultimately, their account was suspended in 2019 for allegedly operating fake accounts and purchasing fake interactions, violating the site's terms of service. They have denied this and, at the time, publicly campaigned to get their accounts reinstated to no avail.

Though they operated in the same space as some of Twitter's more universally reviled "#Resist" posters like BrooklynDad_Defiant! and Occupy Democrats, their absence has made some remember them fondly because, while they were perceived by many as annoying, their cringey resistance tweets were simple, earnest and almost lovably goofy — kind of like if Ralph Wiggum got involved in a political movement.

For example, one of Brian's most legendary tweets, posted during the 2019 Super Bowl, is still recalled fondly by some to this day.

The Krassenstein's reinstatement was seemingly an early Christmas gift for many on Twitter, who seemed to celebrate the twin brothers' return like that of the Prodigal Large Adult Sons.

While the brothers were appreciative of Elon Musk's Twitter letting them back on the site, it seemed they immediately turned the attention they once saved for the former President to the site's new perpetual main character, and the Musk criticism started anew with the same tenor as their once-infamous Trump criticism.

For those who remember Politics Twitter from the mid-to-late 2010s, the Krassensteins' return signifies a twisted return to the post-2016 election era of the app, which it once again looks like will never die.
