A city commission meeting in Fort Lauderdale, Florida roughly a month ago was surprised when a dominatrix accompanied by two subs approached the dais when the topic of public comment on the city spending $1 million in acquisitions related to yard waste and disposal. Instead of having a take on that, the self-proclaimed "mistress" instead turned the topic of discussion towards why the city should spend a quarter of a million dollars on funding the building of a BDSM dungeon for South Florida residents to enjoy.

The direct benefit to "the voting group," as well as the support of "doms and subs" in Broward county, was the main focus of the bizarre proposal, which was said in the form of a demand.

While not generating a large amount of attention outside local circles initially, the now-viral video has since begun making the rounds online as Twitter users recently discovered the humorous clip.

As they walked out of the meeting hall following the late-December speech, the city manager was asked if there were any districts within Fort Lauderdale that currently operate a dungeon, to which he replied "not that I know of."

As it turns out, this proves to be true, with various adult-oriented stores existing in the city but no "dungeons." The nearest dungeon, however, is a whip-crack away, being only 10 minutes up the street from Fort Lauderdale in Oakland Park — and it just so happens its one that is able to be rented out, leading to some speculation that it was merely a promotional stunt of sorts.

Regardless of the true intent behind the leather-clad city council appearance, the viral story once again reinforced the classic Florida Man (or Woman) stereotype in the eyes of many.
