Quadratic Equation

Velma, a show that somehow managed to dethrone Dragonball Evolution as one of the worst-rated adaptations ever, has another controversy hitting the internet in reference to a scene in which Velma has various math and science equations in the air around her (similar to the Confused Math Lady meme), as the character is thinking intently.

Within this thought cloud, the Quadratic Formula, made infamous by every middle to high school math teacher around the world, can be seen, noticeably drawn incorrectly. While the formula in the show is seen as "X equals b multiplied by the square root of b times 2 plus 4 times a times c," with the entire chain "divided by 2 times a," the correct formula should read "X equals Negative B plus/minus (two different variation answers) the square root of b squared minus 4 times a times c," with that number being "divided by 2a."

As those who braved watching the highly contentious show took notice of the egregious math error, this viral error caused the show to not only get dragged online but get compared to Peppa Pig, a children's show, who many noted actually got the formula right in one of their episodes for 3-year-olds.

The Quadratic mixup was just another in the long list of gripes that people have voiced with the show since its first trailer hit the web late last year, but it goes far in showcasing why the show has such an avid hate-following online.

Messing up on crucial details, combined with radically changing established characters not only in physique but personality, has led to an enormous amount of pushback online, which has grown considerably since it was rumored that the show was renewed for another season despite the growing fan anger.
