MAGA Hat-Wearing Pigeons Flock To Las Vegas, Continue Harmful Trend

Outed as a harmful trend in December, pigeons with hats glued to their heads have once again descended on the city of Las Vegas, this time with a political message: Make America Great Again.

Earlier this week, a group calling itself "P.U.T.I.N.," an acronym for Pigeons United To Interfere Now, claimed responsibility for an army of pigeons wearing red MAGA hats that were released the night before the Democratic debate on February 19th.

In a statement, P.U.T.I.N. said:

P.U.T.I.N. have used their pigeons to launch a one of a kind aerial protest piece in response to the arrival of the 2020 Democratic Presidential hopefuls. The release date was also coordinated to serve as a gesture of support and loyalty to President Trump.

NBC reports that the group released 25 pigeons in total: 24 donning red caps and one wearing a Trump-style wig.

In December 2019, pigeons wearing hats around Las Vegas caused a stir on social media. While some enjoyed the images of these birds wearing tiny hats, advocacy groups claimed that because these hats were glued on, they created an unsafe and harmful situation for pigeons.
