He might not be the hero we need, but he's definitely the Batman we deserve.

After two Batman-led movies starring Ben Affleck, the Caped Crusader is once again getting a fresh cowl. Thankfully, we didn't have to wait for 2021 to get a look at Robert Pattinson in the suit.

Yesterday afternoon, director Matt Reeves dropped the first footage of Pattinson's Batman in a red-tinted camera test set to a very noir-y score by the great Michael Giacchino, which may or not be our first taste of the film's music.

Unlike the last iteration of Batman, in which the role was played by a cross-fit obsessed video game character, the suit falls a bit more on the Christopher Nolan-end of the batsuit scale. The suit for 2021's The Batman appears more practical in design so that the character can turn his head, an improvement made in Nolan's The Dark Knight.

Despite some handwringing over Pattinson taking on the role, fans appear to have come around on the casting, celebrating the footage on Twitter.

The Batman comes out on June 25th, 2021 and also stars Colin Farrell as the Penguin, Zoë Kravitz as Catwoman, Paul Dano as the Riddler, Andy Serkis as Alfred and, rounding out a bonkers incredible cast, Jeffrey Wright as Commissioner Gordon and John Turturro as Carmine Falcone.
