Pokémon Reveals New Paint-centric Pokémon Grafaiai To Internet's Delight
The Pokémon Company seems to have scored another hit amidst its promotion cycle for Pokémon Scarlet and Violet when it revealed Grafaiai, a paint-themed Pokémon, in a new trailer this morning.
Over the past few days, The Pokémon Company has been teasing the reveal of a new Pokémon by posting pictures of trees marked with paint. Some thought (or worried) that the teasers could be for a Paldean variant of the Pokémon Smeargle, who up till now has been the only paint-themed Pokémon in the video game series.
If this is the workings of a Paldean Smeargle, I'll eat doritos locos taco with ghost pepper extract https://t.co/jzDZt6ploy

Instead, the company revealed a new Poison/Normal dual-type friend. Grafaiai (the name is a portmanteau of "graffiti" and the animal called an "Aye-aye") is "a moody Pokémon with a fastidious disposition," according to the Pokémon website. It is also implied that Grafaiai straight-up murders Bug-type Pokémon by coaxing them into traps with the scent of its paint.
Despite its flair for clever death traps, Grafaiai quickly became a darling of social media, as users expressed their support for the lil guy through a slew of memes and fan art.

The Pokémon Company has been on a roll with its reveals for Scarlet and Violet so far. In addition to instant-star new Pokémon like Lechonk and Fidough, Pokémon fans have also been largely enthused by the games' new battle gimmick Terastallization, which will open the competitive experience to even more intricate strategies.
