Rudy Giuliani Gently Slapped In Supermarket, Presses Charges, Faces Mockery
Rudy Giuliani, former mayor of New York City and former personal attorney to Donald Trump, received a slap on the back while at a grocery store yesterday, and then claimed he was assaulted.
The slapper, a 39-year-old Staten Island resident, allegedly gave Giuliani the slap on the back, said “What’s up, scumbag?” and then criticized Giuliani’s support of the overturning of Roe v. Wade before walking away. The incident was captured on video, which subsequently went viral online.
Here is the clip of Rudy Giuliani's violent attack, with a voiceover of him describing the horrific experience.
What a brave man to go through such an attack and survive 😂😂 pic.twitter.com/WkTMrtjPTj— 🥀_Imposter_🕸️ (@Imposter_Edits) June 27, 2022
Andrew Gill (the man who slapped Giuliani) was arrested and charged with assault of a person over 65, a felony in New York state, which, if Gill is convicted, would lead to two to seven years in prison. Giuliani described the impact of the slap as “like a boulder” or a “gunshot” in remarks following the incident.
Despite video evidence contradicting his original statement of events, Rudy doubles-down this morning: “I got hit on the back as if a boulder hit me. It knocked me forward a step or two. It hurt tremendously.” pic.twitter.com/h4QsHZGBPo

After seeing the footage, many people online thought Giuliani was exaggerating the force of the so-called "slap" and posted mocking memes.

If Rudy Giuliani thinks that little back pat is assault he should try being a woman on the subway.

Many made fun of the former Mayor, bringing up crimes he has been accused of in the past and harmful lies he has endorsed during his political career.
BREAKING: Rudy Giuliani is "attacked" in a grocery store as a ShopRite worker "open-handedly" slaps him in the back and says: "Hey, what's up scumbag?" RT IF YOU THINK THAT TRYING TO OVERTURN BIDEN'S WIN WAS A BIGGER CRIME THAN A LITTLE SLAP!

After listening to Rudy’s version of his “attack,” and then watching the video, I’m beginning to question his top secret evidence of voter fraud.

Thoughts & prayers to Rudy Giuliani,
who visited Staten Island today
and had his privacy and body autonomy
challenged by a man.— John Fugelsang (@JohnFugelsang) June 26, 2022
A few just found the story hilarious, the latest chapter in the very-online career of a highly memed politician.
If Rudy Giuliani’s back slap was an assault then I’m a natural blonde virgin who doesn’t fucking drink and never ever swears.

The funniest part of the Rudy Giuliani story is that some guy giving him a sarcastic backpat, saying "hey, what's up scumbag" and walking on is very New York, and Rudy can't handle it at all.

The person most responsible for spreading the video seems to be Ron Filipowski, a former Republican prosecutor turned liberal-leaning pundit on Twitter. Filipowski shared a video of the incident, which gained over 3.2 million views, and has tweeted several times about the response to the clip.
I don’t think Rudy is going to handle prison very well.

At the time of the incident, Rudy Giuliani was campaigning for his son Andrew, who is running in the Republican primary for Governor of New York. Andrew struck a defiant tone in tweets published earlier today.
We will not be intimidated by left wing attacks.
As governor I will stand up for law and order so that New Yorkers feel safe again. This message has resonates with voters throughout my campaign, leading up to Tuesday's primary. (2/2) https://t.co/GY6FT3FjGd— Andrew H. Giuliani (@AndrewHGiuliani) June 27, 2022
