Texas 6th Grader Arrested For Quoting Riff Raff Meme
These days, you can't even say, "My Mango Is To Blow Up" without getting in trouble with "The Man."
This was discovered by Texas sixth-grader Indicas Koonaloak-Young, who was escorted out school, suspended and arrested for getting halfway through quoting a relatively ancient Riff Raff meme before suffering consequences from his teacher, who believed he was making a threat of violence.
In 2014 (when Koonaloak-Young was roughly 1 year old), rapper Riff Raff inspired a meme by posting a Vine from his car in which he said, "My main goal is to blow up, then act like I don't know anybody." The quote clearly means Riff Raff intends to get successful, aka "blow up" in popularity.
The meme has stuck around for years and made its way to TikTok, where Koonaloak-Young found it. According to the boy, he tried to explain the meme's meaning to his frightened teacher, but it was to no avail.
Police arrested him last week for making a "terroristic threat." He has a court appearance scheduled for today, according to local Texas news outlet KTXS.
The boy's father, Bino Villanueva, told the outlet that his worst fear is seeing his son handcuffed and placed in jail after the court hearing. However, the case has received national media attention, and many authoritative sources (including us) can confirm that, if the boy truly was simply quoting the "My Main Goal Is to Blow Up" meme, he was not making a threat.
