The Internet Mourns The Breakup Of Podcasting Duo And Showtime Hosts Desus And Mero
New Yorkers and comedy fans were stunned yesterday to learn that Desus and Mero, hosts of the Bodega Boys podcast and an eponymous Showtime show, have gone their separate ways.

desusnice and THEKIDMERO will be pursuing separate creative endeavors moving forward. #DESUSandMERO will not be returning to SHOWTIME. It's been a good run, fam.— DESUS & MERO on SHOWTIME (@SHODesusAndMero) July 18, 2022
The duo flexed their comedic talents for nearly a decade, working on projects including the Desus vs. Mero podcast, the Bodega Boys podcast, a Vice series and the aforementioned Showtime series.
At the moment, all that has officially been said about their breakup is that the two want to pursue individual creative endeavors. However, there's also been speculation that there is some kind of animosity between the duo.
In June, Desus tweeted an assurance that the pair's podcast, which had been on hiatus for roughly seven months by that point, would return.
bodegahive you think I abandoned y’all but the art is coming back. Plz believe in me, I love y’all.

Mero countered this on the pair's subreddit, /r/bodegaboys, writing:
NAH IT’S A WRAP BRODY, SOMEBODY MENTIONED DUDE TWEETING THAT FROM SOME COUNTRY AT LIKE 3AM. I TOURED WITH DUDE FOR YEARS HE WAS FUBAR AND IN HIS BAG. PODCAST DONE ENJOY THE BACK CATALOG MY PALS
In response, Desus hinted that some truth would come out about their split. His deleted tweet said, "The hive deserved better than this ending. Reddit can slander my name but when the truth comes out…..actually just wait."
The “where’s the art??” comments keep coming so…swipe for the tea. Seems like it’s a wrap, y’all. All love to both of our guys for the mems 💖💖 pic.twitter.com/Vi0avNrajt

While the specifics of the duo's split remain a mystery, the internet is mourning their breakup. Many celebrated the Bronx-centric brand of comedy they brought to primetime.
I can’t put into words how much seeing Desus & Mero succeed meant to me, as someone who was born and raised in The Bronx.
No matter what, the Bodega Boys did that. And I’m grateful for their run.— Joi Childs (@jumpedforjoi) July 18, 2022

The Desus & Mero run was the most inspiring things for a dude from The Bronx. It was wild that they could go from jokes about girls at Preston High School to cutting social commentary on current events so seamlessly. The Complex podcast was my fave era but #BodegaHive forever 🥲

Others celebrated their legacy by reposting some of the duo's best bits, such as episodes featuring big names like Eminem and Bernie Sanders.

The duo leaves behind a massive back catalog of material to tide over fans until their individual pursuits come to fruition. Until then, their followers will always have The Brand.
