About

7×7=49 or Seven Times Seven Equals Forty-Nine is a math equation popularized in early April 2026 through a series of memes claiming that "7×7=49" is attractive. The concept originates from a viral video by TikToker @heartzz.kyra, who includes the equation in a slideshow of subjects that prove that women don't care about looks.

The video was posted in early April 2026 and inspired a wave of memes about the idea of the equation being hot, including theories as to why this might be, with some linking it to synesthesia (a phenomenon causing sensory crossovers, like tasting colors or feeling sounds).

Origin

On April 1st, 2026, TikToker[1] @heartzz.kyra posted a video captioned, "Proof that women don't care about looks," where several images of things that women are purportedly attracted to for something other than looks scroll by the screen. This includes the math equation, "7×7=49." The video gained over 38.4 million views in five days.

A reason for the equation's attractiveness is not given by the uploader. Other images in the video include the horse Spirit from the film of the same name, Nick Wilde from Zootopia and a headless mannequin in a dress shirt.

The video has since been deleted for unknown reasons.

On April 5th, a now-deleted Redditor made a post to the /r/PeterExplainsTheJoke[3] subreddit asking, "Petah, why do some girls consider '7×7=49' attractive?" The top answer, with roughly 50 upvotes, reads, "There's something very special about 7×7=49 to a group of people who seem to have some manner of synesthesia or something similar. We love that multiplication and we also feel that 7×7=49, autumn, and Thursday are deeply connected."
