Gi-hun "I'm Fucked" refers to a still from a Squid Game edit showing the protagonist Seong Gi-hun (actor Lee Jung-jae) looking worried and the catchphrase, "I'm fucked," written in red over his face. The scene is from season 2, episode 3 of Squid Game, titled "001." Gi-hun says, "I'm fucked," when he realizes that his tooth implant has been removed during Red Light, Green Light. The image was used to express a serious realization of impending doom. The edit that the image was sourced from was originally posted to YouTube in January 2025. It didn't gain use in image macros and memes until July 2025, amid a series of Squid Game Edit Reaction Images that were spreading online, including Oh My God Bruh, among others. The reaction images sourced from Squid Game edits were often used ironically, subverting the serious and perceptively corny nature of Squid Game edit culture.

Origin

On July 7th, 2025, X^[1] user @DailyForgis tweeted a screenshot of a Squid Game edit, showing the main character, Seong Gi-hun, and red text, reading in all caps, "I'M FUCKED." Over 15 days, the tweet received over 8,700 likes (shown below).

The image comes from an edit shared by YouTuber^[2] Anblog on January 8th, 2025, which received over 7,600 views in six months (shown below).

The scene used in the edit is from season 2, episode 3 of Squid Game, titled "001." In it, Seong Gi-hun is playing Red Light, Green Light and realizes that the tracker implanted in his tooth has been removed. He says, "I'm fucked," when he realizes as the camera zooms in on his worried expression.^[3]

Later on July 7th, 2025, X^[4] user @playmygames0 reposted the Gi-hun "I'm Fucked" image, gaining over 16,000 likes in 15 days.

On July 9th, X^[6] user @killer7yaoi posted a recaptioned version of the Gi-hun "I'm Fucked" meme", replacing the word "fucked." The post gained over 70 likes in 13 days (shown below).

On July 11th, 2025, Instagram ^[5] user @big_chungles reposted the image in a slideshow with other Squid Game Edit Reaction Images, gaining over 15,200 likes in 11 days.

On July 21st, X^[7] user @doobieralsei tweeted, "Dad probably just heard me beating it in VC with my BF," using the Gi-hun "I'm Fucked" image as the photo, gaining over 36,000 likes in a day (shown below).
