Dana Terrace, creator of the popular animated series The Owl House, was caught pirating her own show in a recent tweet over the weekend.

In the tweet, Terrace shared a screenshot of the show's antagonist, Bill, celebrating the character's voice actor Chris Houghton. It wasn't long before Terrace's followers realized that the screenshot had theowlclub's watermark in the left-hand corner, an illegal streaming site that hosts the series.

After being called out by multiple Twitter users, many of whom admitted to pirating the series themselves, Terrace added a comment to the post, writing, "Lmao yes the screenshot. I don’t have cable either." The tweet also inspired memes on the /r/TheOwlHouse subreddit. Many of the memes take lighthearted jabs at the subreddit's moderation team, which runs the board with a strict "no piracy" rule. Moderators of the board have also been locking posts that make jokes about the tweet.

According to some fans, The Owl House is particularly difficult to watch without pirating if you don't have access to cable television. In a post to /r/OutOfTheLoop, user ymmvmia wrote, "As a fan, its insanely difficult to watch owl house legitimately if you dont have cable. There are ZERO non cable options. It doesn't goto Disney plus until each season is finished. So your only options are piracy or spending 50-70 bucks on an online cable bundle streaming thing like Hulu or YouTube TV." Others are simply confused as to why Terrace doesn't have files for her own show on hand and whether or not it's illegal to pirate your own television series.

The Owl House is currently airing its second season on the Disney Channel, with the finale set to air on May 28th.
