"Thundercats Roar" Fires Barbed Shot At Its Haters In "Teen Titans GO" Crossover

Thundercats Roar, the recent Cartoon Network reboot of the 1980s action cartoon Thundercats, has been, to put it mildly, not well-received. Upon seeing the 2018 trailer for the reboot of the series, fans were quick to complain, arguing that the show did a disservice to the original with its more family-friendly direction and supposed CalArts style.

Since releasing in January, the show currently has generated a paltry 1.7/10 rating on IMDb, likely a result of rating-bombing by angry fans. While some networks might wait for such a negative response to blow over, Cartoon Network took a different approach: by calling those who hate the show "poop mouths" with "poop opinions."

A recent episode of Teen Titans GO! is devoted entirely to the Thundercats Roar controversy. In the episode, most of the Teen Titans gang is outraged at the Thundercats reboot, save for Starfire, who had never seen the original. The cast destroys a television upon seeing the show's intro and works to get the reboot canceled, on the basis of "someone made a cartoon not the way we exactly wanted them to." They petition Warner Bros. to get the show canceled but when this fails, Raven teleports them to the Thundercats Roar world.

The Thundercats Roar cast defeats the Teen Titans GO! cast in battle, which prompts the original Lion-O to show up and deliver a barbed shot at the Thundercats Roar haters.

Needless to say, this has not gone well. Fans were incensed at Teen Titans GO! trying to dunk on them for not liking Thundercats Roar, and were particularly upset at a brief Panthro cameo at the end of the above clip.

As of now, it appears Thundercats Roar will continue until morale improves.
