Earlier this month, Mötley Crüe drummer Tommy Lee posted a now-infamous photo on his Instagram, Facebook and Twitter of himself buck naked sitting down with his legs spread for the whole internet to see. After weeks of virality online and lots of mixed reactions, we finally have an answer to why.

According to Tommy Lee himself, the rock star was "on a bender" when he posted the very NSFW nude photograph across his social media pages two weeks ago and apparently, he wants everybody to know.

Earlier this week, Lee posted a video on his social media pages taken at a recent concert. In the video, Lee takes a moment from performing to address a recent controversy where he posted a dick pic to all of his social media pages where nude content is against the terms of service.

"We had like a two-week break of the tour, and I went on a bender, bro […] [I] got naked and posted pictures of my penis," he said in the video to rousing cheers from the audience. Lee goes on to joke with the audience, asking the men in the crowd to then pull their penises out in celebration of the post.

The nude picture was up for several hours before it was removed from Instagram and Facebook, with only Twitter allowing it to stay.

It became a massive talking point across the web (and still is to some degree). Some of the thirstiest people were impressed by the image, while others saw its slow removal as an example of the double standards on social media regarding female vs. male nude photos.
