The way marketing was handled for the film was really bad and I feel ultimately hurt it. Like probably one of the only other ad campaigns I can think of that hurt something similarly was Earthbound, what with 1990s era Nintendo of America trying to adopt a "hip" marketing campaign that failed (trying to market the game with slogans like "This game stinks!" and using gross out humor in magazine ads since Ren and Stimpy was still all the rage).
Difference is Earthbound was still regarded as being really good by those that played it, and in time it became a cult classic. Ghostbusters 2016's general reception is one big "so okay it's average" that I'm sure people will remember the piss poor marketing more than the movie itself.
"Power is like being a lady… if you have to tell people you are, you aren't." – Margaret Thatcher
If "girls rule", that would be self-evident. As it stands, women are judged the same way as men; by their actions.
But silly me; unlike most women I know and love, rad fems tend to be lazy. Why work for power and respect when you can just demand it, or assume you already have it?
