Their battery life was shit, they were beyond expensive, and they were completely impractical, but people could see the use so despite being fucking terrible the tech kept advancing.

This Nokia 5190 is the phone my parents had in 1999~2000

And let's not forget the infamous Nokia 3310, which inspired all the indestructable nokia memes. It was released 2 years later in 2000

So yeah, there were wireless phones in 1999----And so much more.
