If anything Google has taught me in my five minutes of studying, is that not all of the Middle East is a literal barren wasteland that is consumed in war. Dubai is a great example of a prospering city in the midst of the sea of sand, while other cities are the testament of time. This guy probably watches way too much CNN to make such assumptions.
