P. Suppermariobroth In the first trailer of Super Mario Sunshine shown in 2001, a realistically-proportioned human character appears for a brief moment as Mario runs past. This concept was quickly scrapped as no other Super Mario Sunshine beta content showed any trace of this character. Since Shigeru Miyamoto has stated that Super Mario Odyssey is a continuation of gameplay ideas from Super Mario Sunshine, it is possible that the realistic humans shown in the Super Mario Odyssey trailer are an attempt to bring back this concept.
