Samurai Jack is just as incredible as it used to be. But here's a little bit of trivia about the villain Jack fought this episode. Scaramouche the Merciless may just seem like a silly name, which it is, but the name Scaramouche actually goes back to a character from the 16th century. Scaramouche was a stock character in Italian Commedia dell'arte, which translates to "theater of the professional" and is known as the first form of professional theater. Also, the role of Scaramouche combined characteristics of the zanni, servant, and the Capitano, masked henchman, characters in theater. Which is fitting since the recurring villains, The Daughters of Aku and those that raised them, all wear masks and can be considered as servants or henchmen. The character of Scaramouche was also boastful, which fits with how he acted in the episode through his proclamation of being Aku's favorite assassin, as well as his mockery of Jack and referring to him as
