Yes, I know I just used this image for two slightly-different variations of the exact same gag. But then I remembered this meme, and how it takes about a second for Mario to fall into the pit, and that Mario's jumping is flexible enough that he could have saved himself if he had maneuvered away from the pit as soon as he grabbed the mushroom, but after about half a second of falling, it was too late, so… yeah… this is what must have gone through the mind of every player who's ever thrown themselves to their doom while trying to grab the Fishing Lakitu's bait.
