TBH, I was one of the people who didn't mind Marina's english dialogue, partially because Pearl snarks back and partially because she doesn't get as vicious as Marie did (which could change depending on how the Splatfests go). That said, I like that Nintendo added more dialogue that shows that these characters actually like one another offstage.

That said, just because she likes to take the piss out of her friend doesn't mean she doesn't care about her. And if they are actually changing how they write her character, then good! It's a change for the better.
