Okay, so some people are confused here. King Rhoam put heavy pressure on Zelda to fulfil her destiny of wielding the power of the Triforce of Wisdom, denying her from enjoying the things she loves like books and scientific research (ironically, those interests are befitting of one associated with Wisdom) as he believed that denying one's individual happiness was the key to unlocking her power.
This turned out to be bad as it gave Zelda the wrong belief on how to unlock her power which led to her developing crippling self-worth issues. The actual way to unlock her power was to allow Zelda to embrace the things that made her happy, something that Mipha suggested as an alternative.
