The funny thing is, Obelix actually stopped the volcano from erupting in the Asterix and the Chariot Race. Mind you, the books take place around 50 B.C.E. – Mount Vesuvius erupted and wrecked Pompeii about 130 years later. So either this just Roman (who are crazy, but I digress) propaganda, or this was a kill with the longest waiting period in history.
