Man Literally Too Angry to Die refers to an exploitable Breaking News Parody in which various pop culture characters are paired with the chyron "Man Literally Too Angry to Die" or a variant thereof depending on the character.

Origin

On January 27, 2017, Facebook user Noah Cogliette published the earliest version of the meme in the SWSithposting Facebook group. They wrote, "Posting again cuz this shitty OC I made never got posted." The post received more than 3,800 reactions in less than four years (shown below).

Spread

On January 29th, 2017, Redditor tjl_p posted an example of the meme to /r/PrequelMemes^[1] using an image of Darth Maul. The post gained over 980 points (shown below).

On March 15th, the image was posted to Funnyjunk,^[2] where another user created a variation on the template using Zaeed from Mass Effect (shown below).

In the following months, the chyron was often paired with the protagonist of the Doom series, known as "Doomguy." On May 6th, 2018, a Doomguy edit appeared in a dump of the meme on Imgur (shown below, left). On August 13th, 2018, another Doomguy edit was posted to /r/gaming, gaining over 54,000 points (shown below, right).

Other variations used different phrases in the chyron while using different characters. For example, a Prequel Meme variation using Padme Amidala posted to /r/PrequelMemes on May 31st, 2018 gained over 1,600 points. Imgur user DankeKatz created a variation using a character from the Hunter X Hunter anime (shown below, right).
