Fun fact: 8 and 13 are the only mainline Final Fantasy games without online subscriptions to not appear on a Nintendo product:

X and X-2: Switch
XII: Switch
XV: Technically Switch with its pocket version.

Square Enix really hates 8 and 13, huh? They’re also the only game not to get at least one PS4 port or graphical remaster.

The only reason they made so many XIII games was because the developers had a hard time developing for that new generation since it required more work than the previous one. That's why we saw a lot of releases for sequels and not new IPs that whole generation. We saw this with both Western and Japanese developers.
