One of the first known uses of the word "Glomp" as a sound effect is in the Viz English translation of the first Volume of Ranma 1/2. Released in May 1993, over five years after the original manga was published, Viz's Volume 1 compiled the first 14 chapters. In Chapter 12, titled "Showdown!" this image appears in the fight between Ranma and Ryoga, when Ranma lands a kick against his opponent.

Note that this version of the "Glomp" is completely different from how it's currently used, referring to the sound of a landing kick as opposed to a flying tackle hug. "Glomp" started being used in a more familiar fashion in Viz's Volume 3, which was released 15 months later.
