Even some great devs have to deal with bad management. Chris Avellone made it very clear he left Obsidian to go freelance because he was sick of the upper management running the company (when Microsoft bought Obsidian his message to them was "keep the devs, fire the managers"), and CD Projekt Red also isn't exempt from this as some Witcher devs have stated that while working on Wild Hunt they had to deal with some rather poor working conditions.

Sakurai is an odd one out though as he fully admits he does it to himself, Nintendo's management doesn't force him to work on Smash. IIRC Iwata even said that if Sakurai didn't want to return to work on Brawl all those years ago he would have understood, but Sakurai insisted he must be involved with the series. Chances are even Miyamoto and Koizumi are getting worried for Sakurai's well being, dude's been working almost non-stop ever since Kid Icarus Uprising (Sakurai said Smash 4 began development right after Uprising was done, and Ultimate began right after Smash 4's DLC was completed).
