I had an epiphany a while back that there are two types of parents, hyper-attentive parents and laid back parents. Attentive parents are REALLY good with young kids, but their attention fucks up the kid's independence later in life, laid back parents are really great with older kids but their lack of attention for the young ones can really fuck them up early in life in ways they can never mentally heal from. Both kinds of parents fuck up at some point in the kids life, its an inevitable strife in existence.
