On one hand, I like the former since it looks more lived in and personal, but it's cluttered and can be annoying. The latter on the other hand is neat and spacious, but all the glass,plastics, and minimalist designs makes it feel stale and lifeless. Feels less like a place someone actually lives and more like a Starbucks.

Bring the best of both and you will achieve true harmony:

to me, the modern look is so much better. Less cluttered and more open and things just tend to match a lot better. I see that top stuff and i think it looks tacky and a real pain in the ass to set up, put away and clean.
