No one is stopping you from not looking up or down either.

Hardcore gatekeepers can be so absurd when a "dumbing down" consists of an entirely optional, entirely controllable tool. It's not forced upon you, you can just NOT use it and let more casual players have their fun while you have yours.
Unless the game is designed with the tool being used in mind, that does deserve some discussion. But this method sounds like it's designed with the player's choice and preferences as a priority.
