Daicon IV Opening Animation - The First Gainaxing (Daicon IV)

The Daicon IV opening is one of my favorite pieces of animation. Everything is drawn so beautifully and by such a small team on such a tight time crunch. You can feel the absolute love and passion for the medium of animation and for the otaku culture coming from damn near every frame. I legitimately tear up every time the flower petal explosion happens. I can't listen to Twilight by ELO without getting a little choked up. Hell, even thinking about it while typing this post I got misty eyed. There is just something so magical about that 5 minutes and 48 seconds of animation. It is a damn shame we will never get a proper remastered release of it.

This is a piece of global history. We must cherish it forever.
