I mean there was a period in time were Pharaos WERE black because Egypt was under Nubian occupation at the time. That Nubian dynasty also heavily influenced the future culture of Egypt introducing their gods/merged them into the Egyptian Pantheon.

But even without that, the Nubian kingdom was Egypt's main rival for millenia. Nubia was equal in economy and culture to it. It's just less prominent since it didn't border the Medieterranean and thus didn't influence our cultural understanding the same way.
