Kris Kashtanova used Midjourney's A.I. model to produce the comic book, Zarya of The Dawn...and became the most publicized test case for whether A.I. image generations should be granted copyright protections for human authorship. She was rightfully rejected. Why? Well, the Copyright attorneys have echoed what I mentioned before, which is ANY prompter's contribution to the A.I. image generation process is purely ART DIRECTION. Therefore, a prompter is NEITHER directly or substantially responsible for the actual authorship of the image itself - just the direction of it. I think this is the double edge sword that people need to talk about AI for. If people are lazy and looking for a cash grab and use AI as a way, well there is little to no argument about how bad that is, but if people can take the time, editing, work with AI , well there might be hope for our future AI overlords.
