A version of the Battle Frontier was intended to return for Sun & Moon. It would've been called "The Battle Cruise", allowed you to fight strong trainers & champions from different regions as it travelled across the world.

Forwarded The Battle Frontier was supposed to return in a new iteration, called "The Battle Cruise". Filled with several new facilities to compete in like the Battle Deck or a puzzle-like facility focused on shogi. If your battle status is proficient enough, the cruise could even stop at ports across the world to allow you to battle strong trainers and even Champions from different regions. Travel the world aboard a cruise engaging in battles and communications with other trainers 23 ports in total, some featuring cities from previous regions such as Castelia City and Vermillion City The more battles you win, the more popular you become, and special trainers from other regions will start challenging you at their ports Trainers aboard the ship are called "Cruise Trainers" and through various interactions and battles, your bond can deepen with them, allowing you to do special things such as rare trades! If your bond reaches the max level, you can even team up with other "Cruise Trainers" in the facilities Some of the facilities included Deck Battle: A standard battle facility where the goal is to win consecutively. After a certain amount of wins, you can challenge the "Battle Captain" Team Battle: Form a team with other "Cruise Trainers" to win in this facility. The key is to deepen your bonds with other "Cruise Trainers". Fast Battle: A battle facility where the Pokemon battle in a simplified system that even beginners can enjoy. Training Center: A fun place to learn how to hone your skills in battle via puzzles, quizzes and, shogi. Utilize the "rental battle" even if you don't have your own Pokemon to use. Event Hall: A special meeting grounds for "Cruise Trainers" and other special guests. Events such as concerts and parties will be held to deepen your relationship with others aboard. As it stands, it's just Giovanni himself from a different universe/timeline/dimension/whatever where he succeeded in his plans and has power over hopping between said points in space and time, hiring other evil team leaders who succeeded in their respective worlds.

As cool as that would be, GAME FREAK or Pokémon in general doesn't want to acknowledge the existence of the Orre games. Which is a whole load of Tauros-shit, because they were important in some cases as well, like getting previously inaccessible Johto Pokémon, blessing us with some bops that sadly go unnoticed by casual fans due to the GameCube not selling that well and essentially being some of the better games to play for those who crave a challenge.

I'd give anything to at least see some acknowledgement of the Orre Duology, like some of their characters popping up in Masters EX. Who wouldn't want to see interactions like Miror B. with Wallace, and Wes and/or Michael with Penny?

Kinda glad they dropped the "Mastermind is actually a fan of the Main Villain" shit. It just doesn't seem right to have RR Giovanni turn out to be a former Grunt that looked up to the OG Giovanni.
