X Journalists would make claims of people like Anita Sarkeesian "playing video games all her life" when she openly admitted many times she is not a gamer and only starter recently (when it wasn't for an interview). Various developers trading sex or money for good reviews got exposed, journalists who accepted got exposed. People became a bit more critical about supporting a game just because the developer has a victim complex stating tat their game could have only failed because of sexism, instead of their own poor developing skills. What really sealed the deal was opposition often faking their own harassment. Anita sarkeesian and Zoe Quinn have been caught multiple times screenshotting "harassment" while showing that the harrasser's account name in the login. Or when someone called the police to help Sarkeesian against a "very real threat" she was posting about, only for police to find the harasser's messages were coming from her IP address. I do, however, speak for myself, and for quite a few of my colleagues in the studio/industry that can't voice their opinion due to backslash from certain groups of people or the media. Some have already come out in support of this movement, and many more will continue to do so in the future We do not, in any way, support harassment, threats, doxing or other similar activities, no matter if they are serious or 'just a joke. This is not a way to win an argument or assert one's opinion. Cultural diversity is a big part of large companies in this industry, as many of them have studios across the globe with employees working together for the same goals. If you see people that do this, no matter what side they are on, report them using the provided means or contact authorities. Do not incite them or publicize the attacks (like some have done). Regarding the recent uproar in this industry, we stand behind our customer base: the gamers. They are the reason why we have jobs, they are the reason why we happily go to work in the moming. We create new experiences and products that they enjoy, and that will never, ever change As developers, we stand against the corruption in the game industry media, as well as the one in the actual dev industry. We are revolted by the public attacks on gamers made by certain publications, attacks that have ultimately triggered this movement. However, we will not stand idle as certain groups attempt to tear us apart. No more. We, alongside you, are actively boycotting any publications or websites that slander our customers, support buying, or insult our intelligence with defying remarks and threats.
