Italian Senate Tifa Hentai / Porn Livestream is the name given to an event in which Tifa from Final Fantasy VII Remake made an appearance in a lewd video at a livestreamed event in the Italian Senate in early 2022. The video, which was animated in Unreal Engine, was followed up by another video of Xiangling from Genshin Impact. News of the hack went viral shortly after, resulting in widespread media coverage, discussions and memes on social media in January 2022.

Background

On January 17th, 2022, the Italian Senate was in the middle of a meeting about Transparent Public Service, for which they had Nobel Prize-winning Physicist Giorgio Parisi in attendance. Maria Laura Mantovani, one of the organizers behind the event, posted the room ID and password on her facebook page to the Zoom meeting and someone joined then began to broadcast an explicit video of Tifa and Cloud made by JuicyNeko^[1] for the livestream's duration. Despite the words of protest and shock from those in attendance, the person controlling the stream continued to scroll through Discord until finding a video of Xiangling made by Dragk.^[2] The event wasn't widely reported initially, with it spreading via word-of-mouth from people on social media, such as the Twitter^[3] user @FrancescoDonald who tweeted about it and posted clips and information, earning over 60,000 combined likes in three days (shown below).

Online Reactions

Due to the notoriety and shock of the event, the online response was massive following news of the livestream hack in mid-January 2022. Almost immediately, there were people posting memes about the event online. For example, Twitter user @magicalxirIIV^[4] tweeted out pictures of the Italian flag with Tifa rendered on top of them, both her classic style and the newly made one for the remastered game, earning 23,000 likes in two days (shown below).

On January 20th, 2022, Twitter user @Caligoletto2^[5] posted an existing Men Discussing Things meme that uses Tifa as the punchline, stating that this is the highest peak of Italian politics, earning 300 likes in one day (shown below).
