About

Industry Baby is a song created by American rapper Lil Nas X in 2021. The song has became super popular following it's premiere on YouTube and has gained popularity on TikTok.

Origin

On July 23rd, 2021, the official music video was posted on Lil Nas X's official YouTube[1] channel. The video, which is the story of Lil Nas X being sentenced to jail in court, then his eventual escape from the jail, has gained over 100.3 million views in one month (shown below). The video itself is tied to a fundraiser with the Bail X Fund, a group that helps people pay cash bail to avoid jailtime while awaiting trial.

Industry Baby Dad and Child Cover

On August 15th, 2021, TikTok[2] creator farrisreganofficial posted a cover of the song with him and his son. The video has gained over 5 million views, however the account has since been banned (reupload shown below).

In August 2021, other TikTok users expanded on the meme by using the Blue and Red TikTok Filter in which blue is a man and when the son sings the songs it changes to red and changes the face into a girl. For example, the TikTok[3] user Chad Epps posted a video of the audio with the filter of the blue filter with the caption "boys who pee standing up" and changes to the red filter of a lady to their face with the caption "boys who pee sitting down". The video hit 1.6 million likes (shown below, left). On August 16th, TikTok[4] user __emerald posted a series of images based on a misunderstanding of what the lyrics say. The video has gained over 245 thousand likes (shown below, right).
