On 4chan's /a/ board, the catchphrase has been often featured on "bird threads", a series of threads with close-ups of bird faces where the users highlighted hentai quotes that were often repeated on various works.^[4] The quote is also accompanied with moving hips gifs or images, and sometimes used as an unrelated response for japanese translations.^[2]

On September 2nd, 2012, youtuber Tyranogre uploaded a video titled "SacAnime 2012: "My hips are moving on their own!"", where he asks to various voice actors on Sac-Anime 2012 to say the quote with their characters' voice. On June 1st, 2013 a Yahoo Answers question asking “How do you say "My hips are moving on their own" :D in japanese?” was submitted.^[3]
