About

Homer Simpson Looking Out Window refers to an image of Homer from a 1999 episode of The Simpsons peering out of a window from the second floor of the Simpson's house as if secretly watching someone from afar. The image has been the subject of memes, including image macros and reaction images, since the early-to-mid-2010s.

Origin

On February 7th, 1999, season 10, episode 13[1] of The Simpsons aired on television in which Homer changes his name to "Max Power" after discovering he shares his name with an idiotic TV character. At one point in the episode, Homer peers out of his window nervously to keep an eye out for people laughing at him about being named "Homer Simpson" (shown below), which is where the original image used in the meme comes from.

On November 14th, 2014, Tumblr[4] user king-duckworth posted an image macro featuring a screenshot of Homer peering out the window from the scene with the top text, "when you hear people arguing in your street" gaining over 408,000 notes in six years (shown below). This is the earliest available post using the image. It was uploaded to Know Your Meme[2] on February 5th, 2015.
